Career & Internships

The success of RIA’s program model is rooted in understanding the life experiences of people healing and exiting from the commercial sex trade. We believe in collaborative leadership whereby all voices and experiences are valued and influence all levels of care from the front lines to fundraising. RIA is an equal opportunity employer that actively seeks, trains, and promotes candidates from diverse backgrounds including people with lived experience, women, communities of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, and people with disabilities. We seek to hire people from various cultures, nationalities, and ethnicities who bring a range of backgrounds, beliefs, personal experiences, and interests to the organization. RIA understands that our differences inspire us to learn and grow, and enrich each of our lives by deepening our relationships with the people whom we do business.

"Being a clinical intern at RIA has been a special experience. Every story shared by our participants has taught me about resilience, strength, and perseverance."

We are open for clinical interns for Fall 2025-2026.

RIA, Inc. is now receiving intern applications for the 2025-2026 school year. Students from graduate training programs in counseling/therapy or social work are welcome to apply for one of our clinical internships. They will be supervised by our Clinical Director, Rachel Ewing, LMFT, who has worked in community mental health for over ten years.

Our internship training comes with rich opportunities to utilize trauma informed care, and apply the ecological and stages of change model in order to meet our participants where they’re at. Many of our participants and individuals in therapy have complex trauma and often have co-occurring substance use disorders. At RIA, Inc we are grounded in relational approaches that support the holistic wellbeing of survivors of exploitation, while also utilizing systemic theory in order to address needs in all aspects of their life.

Through our community-based accompaniment approach, clinical interns at RIA will also have the chance to develop a deep understanding of the peer-professional partnership model of care that supports RIA participants. In addition, interns will have opportunities to engage in ongoing internal seminars and external training opportunities to continue the integration of theory into practice.

Please note, because of the nature of our work in the community with a population that is often hard to reach and engage, our placement site requires access to a vehicle. Also, clinical applicants should be aware that their direct service hours will be hybrid in-person and virtual services.

RIA, INC encourages survivors, LGBTQIA+, and Black and POC students to apply.  Applications for the fall 2025 academic year (September 2025 – June 2026) are now open, and we will be receiving applications until positions (1-2) are filled. For a clinical placement for Fall 2025, please email a cover letter of interest and resume/CV to Rachel, RIA Clinical Director at rachel@readyinspireact.orgThank you we look forward to meeting you!
